Gao Xionghou, an alumnus of the Department of Chemistry, Shaanxi Normal University, enrolled in 1981. He is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chief Expert of PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Company, Professor-level Senior Engineer, and concurrently serves as Vice Chairman of the Lanzhou Association for Science and Technology in Gansu Province. As an important promoter and outstanding leader in the development of catalyst technology in China, he has long been committed to the technical research and engineering practice of catalysts. Focusing on the major strategic needs of national energy security and green low-carbon development, he has invented a series of pioneering technologies, including in-situ crystallization catalysts for efficient heavy oil conversion, catalysts for reducing olefin content in gasoline, and catalysts for increasing gasoline yield and reducing coke yield. These achievements have effectively driven the leapfrog development of technologies such as upgrading of oil product quality and efficient heavy oil conversion in China, formed an independent and controllable catalyst industrial chain, and all series of R&D results have been industrialized. As the main organizer, he established the Gansu Chemical New Materials Innovation Consortium and the Petrochemical Catalyst Engineering Technology Research Center, promoting the integration of industry, science and technology in western China. He has made outstanding contributions to meeting China's major needs for refining technology and green production at different development stages. As the first completed person, he has won 3 Second-Class Prizes of the National Award for Progress in Science and Technology, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Technology Innovation Award, and the First PetroChina Outstanding Achievement Award, among other honors.
